OneAZ Community Foundation has awarded grants to 50 nonprofit organizations. The OneAZ Community Foundation has awarded the Sedona Community Food Bank a $5000 Community Impact Grant for their work improving the lives of their community. Grants are awarded to organizations that support at least one of the Foundation's five pillars: Children's Health, Food Banks, Financial Education, Veterans' Interests, and Local Youth Programs.
In March of 2020, the Sedona Community Food Bank was awarded the Silver Innovator from the Sustainability Alliance. What does this mean? We are recognized as a business for our sustainable practices. Leaving little to no waste.
The food bank received from "Keep Sedona Beautiful" the 2020 award for "Sustainability".
Each year, KSB identifies groups and individuals who have made significant contributions to the community. We have various categories such as Dark Sky Lighting, Landscaping, Building and Signage Design, and Sustainability.
KSB received the Food Bank's nomination from Linda Voss, who provided us with details about how the Food Bank distributes food to an average of 165 families each week, managed by two part-time staff members, including yourself and 128 volunteers. We were so impressed that in addition to distributing food to those in need, the Food Bank reduces food waste in the community by distributing surplus food donated from stores and restaurants and then donating any surplus food to an animal sanctuary. We were also impressed by your energy efficient efforts, by replacing refrigerators, installing motion-detection lights and recycling all materials accepted by Sedona Recycles.
